Product Overview - Barbells & Bullshit

How did you come to your conclusions about how to train? Did you develop these beliefs in an unbiased environment, free of pressures to conform to certain ways of thinking and doing? Or did you develop your beliefs based on the influences and pressures you have been exposed to? Have you ever stopped to think about this? Why is it important? Do you have a choice as to what to think and do? What’s the best way to think and to? What is the price to pay if I am nothing more than a collection of other people’s opinions?

These are the questions posed and answered in this ground breaking program we have chosen to call ‘Barbells and Bullshit’.
The title was selected to ram home the point that quite simply you are being exposed to a lot of bullshit, and too much of it is being absorbed.

Before you get concerned that this is coming from a point of ‘holier than thou’ you will be quickly reminded in this program that what you choose to think and do is your truth, your reality. And that is respected. But is it really you? Or is it, and therefore you, simply a collection of thoughts and actions that are other people’s? Are you nothing but yourself, or are you a collection of others? If that is so, are you fulfilling your potential be being little more than a collection of other people’s thinking?

In pursuing these questions and answers, we look into the way in which you may be influenced in your thinking and doing, and why these influences exist. We will talk about religion, science, commercial gain, short-term cash flow and ego – because for reasons such as these most of us, at some stage in our life and maybe still today, have had our thinking shaped.

This program offers you a life-line to become more of yourself, and to fulfill your innate potential. If that is what you want.

This is an important point because the easiest thing for you to do is to be what others what you to be. To go with the flow, to hide amongst the masses, not stand out in any way. It will take a lot more effort to thing and do differently to the masses, and different or even contrary to the dominant pressures and influences in our industry, sub-culture and broader society.

It is a reflection of the broader choices in life we make between what we may initially perceive as security versus freedom. Those who seek the security of the masses may soon learn that they really are not free – not free to think for themselves, and not free to do what they believe is the way to do things in training. And they may soon learn that this is also not a secure position, for reasons including the continual change of trends and therefore expectations on you to ‘be’ and ‘do’ continually changes things – at the whim of others.

And those who seek to be free face the reality that initially at first they may not feel secure, however as they progress in this direction they may either flee back to their prior perception of ‘security’, or soldier on, finding that that they have more security in this realm than those who they have left behind have. The illusion of freedom and security may not be all you initially think it is.

As we progress down this journey of understanding how and why you think and do what you do, and how you can do it differently, we focus on practical real world situation, including the influence you you have when you design your own program or design a program for a client.

As part of this we go deeper into at least one aspect of program design and that is how and why you select any given strength exercise.
We also take a broader view and look at the dominant influences and trend in training method and equipment.

Within the area of influencing on training methods, we focus on the treatment of the physical quality flexibility, putting on the table some thoughts that may challenge you current values and beliefs.
Within this physical quality an even more specific focus is placed on one flexibility method, again potentially threatening the values that you may been influenced to adopt.

From there we go back to strength training and look at the influences on why and how strength exercises are taught.
In the DVD program there is additional content taking one specific teaching model (the squat) and digging deeper into influences on how you teach this exercise. Again, more challenges to your current thinking perhaps.

How you learn and how you choose your teachers is also discussed, and the implications of this. There is some content here that really touches on the latter part of title of the program – bullshit.

You are then given exposure into the KSI way of teaching, from those
who have experienced it. Like most in the industry, the KSI experience was not their first educational experience so they speak from experience.

We conclude with a brief discussion about what the future may hold, as we approach the watershed year of 2012.

This program was recorded live, uncut and uncensored. Which brings with it the reality and passion of a live performance, and the added benefits of real people, real examples. Being live means it lacks studio quality perfection in lighting and sound. This is the trade-off.

DISCLAIMER
Not only was it a live program, it was recorded during the KSI Annual Training Camp 2009 – in this peak and intense environment, where coaches and athletes have travelled from all around the globe to further their potential. This is a no-holds-barred environment.

This ‘no-holds- barred’ reference is NOT lip service. There is no smoke and mirrors about this. What this means if you are a certain type of person, YOU SHOULD NOT INVEST IN THIS PROGRAM. People who we suspect should not give themselves exposure to this program include:

a. Minors (under-age)
b. Those offended by coarse language or the occasional adult concept.
c. Those who hold their current values and beliefs dogmatically.
d. Those who are just plain sensitive – for whatever reason.
e. Politically and socially ‘correct’ people.
f. Fundamentalists in any religion.
g. Anyone else who might take offense for whatever reason.

This is the final point we are going to say in this aspect of our disclaimer – when one is performing at the top of their potential – be it in the sporting or business arena – word selection typically differs from those who are performing at a more mediocre level.

Other aspects of our ‘warning’ is that is a live shoot, not a studio shoot – and that means the lighting and audio is not perfect. Having said that it’s pretty good.

DETAILS
Now for those who are into details. The audio and DVD programs are not identical. They have one part on each that is not on the other.

The audio program is about approximately six hours forty minutes (6hr 40m) in length, covers 10 units, and is spread over 8 CDs.

The DVD program is approximately seven hours (7 hrs) in length, covers 10 units, and is spread over 4 DVDs.

The Audio/DVD Combo pack gives you both with a 22% discount of their combined price.

WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE

The audios will be finished in a few days time, whilst the DVDs will take another week after that to complete. We expect at the latest these to ship at the end of next week.

WHO ARE THESE AVAILABLE TO?

Initially we planned to only make these programs available to our KSI students in our coach education program. We have since realized that this would limit the value that this program brings to the world, and therefore we have opened this up to our readership. Two points here –
1. We still want you to review the Disclaimer above before you invest in these programs to ensure you are the right person for this program, or this program is right for you.
2. We will be rewarding our students, friends and forum members for their prior commitment.

WHAT’S THE INVESTMENT?
The Audio Series will retail at $197 USD. For a three day period from NOW we are offering this to our database at $177, at 10% discount (the only time we offer a discount is at the pre-production stage or in packages).

ian - The audios for excellent for driving around in the car

They look great; the colors, the disc’s themselves look excellent. You did a great job in production!

The DVD’s are great visual viewing. As it was live, I understand that the white board is a bit hard to read off. The thick cases also stand out on the book shelf!

appreciate that. i suspect that some are not yet aware of the power of this product. when i look at the project, it strkes me that

1. i have never done anything like ths before, although i am not sure why. The raw honesty (which i understand some may find confronting, other offensive) was fun to present. admittely my tolerance to bullshit has either lowered or the amount of bullshit in the industry has risen (or combination of both)

2. no one els done that and no matte how much some have comtted to imiitating me, they will no be able to do this with any degree of authenicity. most of these bullshitters are part of the problem, not the soluton

3. the message in this program has further reaching value than just to physcia preparation people.

4. the world needs and will benefit from powerful, honest content like this

Ian,

I've been ill and recovering, listening to B&BS. Interesting, enjoyable and enlightening as always. Particularily fond of how you concluded the flexibilty session. Appreciated the insight into your annual camp in Park City. I seem to sense that some/many have no idea of how loudly your work speaks nor comprehend the value of over ten years with the same athletes. What a study group and what a study! So much for the 95 percenters.

I applaud you on the uniqueness, quality, and extremely valuable contribution of your life's work. Whatever your motivation to bring it to those of us who find it valuable, my most humble thanks to you. I continue to benefit personally.

Ian,
have rec'd my copy of B & BS. The production looks fantastic ( case and cover) Very unique relative to the many in my library!

I benefitted massively from the energy of the live experience - as I'm sure those in attendance can attest to. The live experience, because of the myriad of variables so carefully gauged, leaves an incredibly positive impression - it's impossible to duplicate.

The true value in the DVDs and Audio is the opportunity to watch, listen and learn through repetition - and believe me there are so many subtle nuggets in between the blunt, "in your face" dialog you may wear out your rewind button picking them up!

greatly appreciate the honest and original material you have developed and continue to bring to the industry.
