Question re the routine in the 'Indiv Stretching' DVD

Hi, I ordered a few DVD's a few months back, the stretching and lower back stretches DVD, I have a few questions about the general stretching (guide to individual stretching). Basically, it differs from his Book of Muscle stretching routine, so which one is more effective?

Basically I ordered his book of muscle at 120 lbs and within a year I was at 160 lbs and now I'm 180lbs trying to get down to 164 for fighting. I have been boxing for about 4 months now and I'm wondering what stretching routine he recommends, the book or DVD? and also how many times to do the stretches?

Light stretching everyday before practice and 3 days a week a good hour
stretching? Please respond to this because my last email no one returned,

Tolly - there is no one routine that is right. In the ideal world, any training program should be individualized, which means that you or an suitably competent coach put together a program to suit you.

So its not really correct for me to say one is more effective than the other - they are sample, general stretching routines, and can be modified as you see fit. Most importantly, which one do you find more effective? Think of how you might change it to suit you if your intuition was telling you something needed changing.

It is our goal to teach you how to make decisions based on your intuition (how to fish so to speak), rather than giving you a general program (the fish) and saying "This is the right and only way". You have the power to make good decisions, with some guidance.

As to duration and frequency of stretching, again this is individualized based on your needs. The only general comment I make is a min. of 30-40 mins before training and another 1-2 sessions per week of min. 1 hr stretching. Personally, I stretch for about 10 hrs a week.

Here is what I suggest you do - if you are truly committed to learning what we can teach, you will get onto the KSI forum and exchange with my coaches and other forum members. You are eligible for free membership so go to the forum link at www.kingsports.net and follow every instruction on that page to ensure a smooth registration.

I know all the forum members would like to see my answer to your question so I will paste this on the forum. Make sure you use the forum to share the learning.

And you will find a lot more information to educate you on stretching, especially in the 'Flex Specialization Series' DVD. Also in the GB book range.

Trust this helps and great to see you are committed to optimizing your training through stretching! Re your earlier email, this is the first email I have rec from you
